The Late Lamented J J Pepperonio's

My beloved deck overlooking the beach is now just a big pile of sand.

In the distance you can see the base for the new restaurant being built - way back in the corner near the hotel. What kind of view can you get from there??!!! On the other hand, I guess we'll still be able to gawk at weddings, receptions, etc., taking place on the outside deck.

The second set of steps and wheelchair ramp have also been removed, but they are apparently going to be rebuilt somewhere along here.

All the decking is being rebuilt and reconfigured. Presumably they're also going to spiff up this hot tub, which looks pretty ratty now. Though I don't have a picture, it looks like they're also going to try to block access from next door at Villamare - the wooden walkway has been removed. It will be interesting to see how the area looks this summer and if they try to keep us pool crashers out again.

Our Alabama Cousins

A wonderful visit! And I only wish Chris had been there to take some of his famous food shots of the gorgeous feast Carole prepared for us. My picture-taking does justice to no one. Below are Carole, Michelle, and Monica (and little Abby).

Heath, Jeff, and I believe you know the last one.

Barbara and her friend Wayne.

Andrew and Alex.

Soon to be big sister Mia. (And I just realized I didn't take any pictures of Pat. But he looks much improved from the last pictures we saw of him!)

Talladega Day....

We finally managed to hit Talladega Speedway on a day when it wasn't closed for testing or some such. Well, actually BMW was doing some sort of unexciting motorcycle testing, bt it wasn't enough to close the track. So we were able to take the van tour, which didn't go out on the actual track but did drive all around the infield and then up on the "rim road" so we could get a close-up look at the incredible 37 degree banking on the curves. The tour was narrated by our driver, a Wilford Brimley (sp?) clone. Very interesting. And I'd really like to see a car drive around the track at racecar speeds, but I think I'll skip trying to attend an actual race there - I can't imagine what it's like when the vast surrounding fields of RV parking are full!

Jasperita in Hilton Head

HA, HA - that's right - Trudyblog is back!! Who will be the first to notice? Little Jasperita got a slow start as she was buried at the bottom of a box of stuff, then she got kind of moldy during the germination stage. But all is well now, and soon she will have a luxurious mane of hair, just like Jasper Jr. in Arlington.
